Ceramic Classes
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! Here's a fun way to add something special to your garden with ceramics! Come on out to the farm and be inspired by our flower fields and create your own ceramic garden flower! Don't worry if you've never made anything with clay before...Kim will walk you through it step by step. The really special thing is you are the artist and no two flowers in the class will look alike! After you've created your masterpiece, it will be fired and glazed to your specifications and mounted on a painted metal pole ready to install in your garden. Please note, you will need to be able to come back to the farm in about 3 weeks time to pick up your flower. These may not ship well. If you are not in the area, I am working on putting together an online class where you can learn the techniques and find a ceramic studio near you to fire it. i will also do some demonstrations with air dry clay if you want to make a flower for indoors.
MORE ON THAT LATER!
Discover the fundamentals of Ikebana floral design and create your very own personalized ceramic Ikebana vessel. In this workshop, you'll create an arrangement inspired by Ikebana using fresh flowers from our farm, guided by Kristina Kregel from Fleure Studio. Although mastering this ancient art can take years, she’ll provide you with a lovely introduction. Afterward, capture photos of your beautiful creations and savor delicious refreshments with stunning views of the flower field as Kim prepares for the second part of the workshop: a ceramic vessel-making class. Under her guidance, you'll be encouraged to design your unique piece, ensuring that no two vessels are alike. You'll select the glaze color for your vase, which will be ready for pickup in three weeks.
It really doesn't get much cuter than this! Imagine having a sweet little tea house next to your kettle to enjoy your next hot tea. This project looks complicated to make, but don't worry. We will take you through it step by step and your project will have it's own flair and individuality. After all, it needs to match your style in your kitchen or workplace. After you make your creations, we will fire them and then glaze them to your liking and have them back to you within 3 weeks time.
Come join us on the farm and learn how to sculpt your own custom botanical serving dish and bowl set! This is one of my favorite ceramic techniques because of how easy it is to do, and how beautiful the results turn out! During this class, you will be able to work with flowers and foliage from our flower field and choose your favorites, and imprint them into clay for your one of a kind dish and bowl set! We think this could make the perfect charcuterie, sushi/soy sauce and chip and dip set! After you finish sculpting your dish, you will get to pick out what glazes you would like, and after firing, Delaney and Kim will carefully glaze your creations with the colors of your choice! This class is fantastic for all experience levels, and we can't wait to see what you create! Who doesn't love flowers! If only they could last forever... Oh wait! They can! Weekly Open Studio -
Join us for our Weekly Open Studio every Friday and Sunday, 10-1pm, where you can dive into your passion for ceramics! These sessions are designed for artists with some clay experience to work independently on their ceramic creations. While we’ll be available to answer questions and assist you with studio equipment, please note that we cannot provide focused instruction for up to 10 individuals working on various projects. It's important that you can work somewhat independently. The open studio session is priced at $40 for three hours, which includes full use of the studio, project firing and full access to our glazes. Additionally, clay is available for purchase at $30 for 25 pounds, and you can label your bag for weekly use.
So, whether you have a specific project in mind or simply want to unleash your creativity, treat yourself to three hours of artistic exploration. And just so you know, studies have shown that participating in art classes can actually extend your life! It’s true – look it up!
